Los Angeles. Ca – Author Ron Moss, was a stunt actor, who played the beloved character “Mr. T”. He performed daily in front of thousands at Universal Studios Tours. In addition, Moss was hired on the weekend to make personal appearances at car shows. What no one knew was the big secret he was hiding… Moss could not read or write!
This incredible man taught himself the bare minimum, which was how to sign his name. Learning how to autograph his name enabled him to keep his darkest secret. Like others, Ron Moss was a functioning illiterate. Many people had no idea that this charismatic and well spoken man had only a 3rd grade reading and writing level of comprehension. In a 2004 article of the Arizona Range News it is stated that “About 30 million Americans are functionally illiterate and are subjected to social intimidation, health risks, stress, low income, and other pitfalls associated with the inability to read and comprehend the written word.” Moss say’s “I faked my way thru life until one day when the Oprah Winfrey show changed everything.”

Despite the statistics Ron Moss knew he had a lot to offer. With a burning desire to write, in 1997 he dictated a book called “MY DEAREST LOVE, LOVE LETTERS FROM HIM TO HER” to his wife. On a long shot Moss sent the book to the Oprah show. A one in a million opportunity presented itself to Moss. An Oprah producer called and was interested in profiling the book and Moss on the show. Moss was asked to write bios on 5 of the men who wrote letters which were featured in the book. This request caused great anguish for Ron. His secret was about to be exposed.
Mrs. Moss who wrote the dictation from Ron was having a tough pregnancy, and could not write. Moss was too ashamed to tell Oprah’s producer that he could not read or write, causing him to lose that opportunity. At that point one of the biggest life changing moments happened to Ron Moss, he decided to fight illiteracy once and for all!
Still ashamed to let anyone know his secret, he used his local newspaper and taught himself to read and write. In 2009 Ron Moss worked for Farmers Insurance in Los Angeles, CA. With the encouragement of his boss, the companies C.E.O. Mr. Bob Woudstra, Moss wrote “THE WIZARD NEXT DOOR”. Mr. Woudstra even allowed him to write while at work, until the book was completed.
“THE WIZARD NEXT DOOR” which is a story about a 13-year-old boy name Kyle
Jackson, who moves into a new neighborhood, he just wanted to live a typical teenage life. He became friends with the school nerd, Johnny Walker, and tried to help him become a hip popular kid. Kyle also tried out for the track team and began dating a beautiful cheerleader named Claudia.

Kyle’s life was perfect until Claudia’s ex- boyfriend sought revenge and thrust Kyle into mortal danger. Kyle discovers that Merlin, the legendary wizard form King Arthur’s time, is living next door. Unwittingly, Claudia’s ex has destroyed an object of magic that has kept Merlin alive all of these years. Now Kyle and his friends must find a talisman that will save Merlin’s life But Morgana, the evil witch who wishes to kill Merlin has other ideas. Moss say’s “The OPRAH experience changed my life. After learning to read and write, I now have a great job working in security at the Corporate Offices of Farmers Insurance in Los Angeles, CA and am proud that thru my new book I have the opportunity to help others young and old who have a reading and writing disability.”
THE WIZARD NEXT DOOR, has become a book that is helping kids that have little or no interest in reading and in some cases kids who find themselves going thru school with that ugly monster of illiteracy on their backs.
Ron Moss, is excited about the many stories parents have shared about their children and learning disabilities. There is an 8th grade English teacher who has a son in the 6th grade.
He has a condition and has trouble reading. This young man’s mom started reading THE WIZARD NEXT DOOR to him. To her delight and sheer amazement, this incredible young man read out loud for the first time The Wizard Next Door to his mom before going to bed at night.
Another incredible testimony comes from one of Moss’s co-workers who has a 13 yr old son that hates to read. After much convincing the gentleman talked his son into reading

Incredibly the young man started reading the book and could not put it down, and has
recently written a book report for school about The Wizard Next Door.

I’d like to share with all who feel hopeless. To hear and see kids and adults learn to read
using my book, is awesome, it’s my Oscar!”
This book was written to inspire and open up a whole new world for those who cannot
and do not like to read. Moss says “ I hope the book will one day be made into a movie.
I plan to write at least 3 more sequels to THE WIZARD NEXT DOOR to inspire and encourage people to embrace reading and writing.”
